Free interactive cosmic horror game

NODOMUS is an indie game by Colorfiction. This free-to-download and play game will have players go on an adventure inside a mysterious void in space. Here, you can get a glimpse of another place that is beyond human understanding.

Gameplay-wise, NODOMUS is very much like ae, another interactive game from the indie developer. Both consist of weird shapes and flashing imagery. Only this time, the images are like a live feed from a camera sent to space. However, like the previous game, there is limited player input here. Additionally, the images can cause headaches for some players.

What is NODOMUS?

NODOMUS is a game that bridges the fear of the dark alien unknown.  It shows live footage of a probe sent deep into space and consists of various images, including dancing clouds and violent wrath endlessly spinning. It even shows impossible evidence of intelligent life outside Earth. More than pictures of cosmic horror, the game amp up the experience with sound and light effects that you cannot pinpoint the origin of.

Like the other interactive games from the developer, the game requires little input from the players. You cannot interact with anything as your main goal is to observe. You cannot even rotate the camera to get a different angle. What you can do is zoom in and out and switch between the cameras. There are six camera feeds, and each shows a different view of what is inside the void.

More than the limited player engagement, the game also comes with a short run time. Additionally, as noted, it features highly grating audiovisual. As you play, you will encounter bright lights and flashing images, which can be headache-inducing. Some background noises are also harsh to the ears.  You may not complete a session without feeling a throbbing in your temple.

Is the game good?

NODOMUS is a game that will take you on a confusing yet amazing journey inside the void. The game offers an interesting map filled with mysterious objects and flashing images. Moreover, the live feed-style of its design makes it look like a realistic probe across deep space. Although, you won't do much as you play. Additionally, the graphics can cause a headache that will prompt you to stop the game.
